With a couple mouse clicks WinMerge will copy those folders over to your active FS9 and (hopefully) fix your problem. \FS9\Scenery\NAMW\scenery and your virgin FS9 has a bunch of the HL*.bgl and HP*.bgl files that your active FS9 is missing. Square coastlines are usually due to missing scenery files that have names like HL9 nnnn0.bgl and HP9 nnnn0.bgl WinMerge can compare your two copies of FS9 and show you what files are identical, files with the same name that are not identical, files that exist in one folder and not the other, etc. WinMerge is a great file/folder comparison tool that every sim tweaker should have. To carry this a bit further, Google WinMerge and install it on your computer. Now you will have an untouched copy of FS9 to use as a source for any needed files. Rename your FS9 folder, run the FS9 installer to the original location, rename the new FS9 install to something like FS9-virgin, restore the name to your original FS9 installation. If you have a large number of files to extract, and sufficient hard drive space, you might want to try another route. 
If you wish, or need, to go through the extraction process Jim Robinson has been kind enough to give us this guide. \FS9\Scenery might reveal their existence. Typically those kinds of addons disable default files by renaming them or copying them to a cache location, so they are probably still there. Unlike FSX, for FS9 we can easily extract original files from the install discs, something you cannot do with FSX.Ĭan you reinstall the scenery in question and then uninstall it? There is no repair option for FS9, that is an FSX feature.
